ANOTHER WINDFALL FOR CATARACT PATIENTS
The Baptist Eye Hospital Lunsar (BEHL) has been blessed with two successive free cataract projects this year, 2011. The first one was in March and April during which four hundred (400) successful free cataract surgeries were done. Because of the good performance of the hospital and the timely completion of the first project, the BEHL was once more awarded another sponsored cataract campaign in September and October 2011 during which five hundred (500) cataract operations were carried out. These surgeries, added to the routine surgeries of the hospital, have significantly boosted up the total number of cataract operations this year.
These two projects have been sponsored by a Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation, IHH INSANI YARDIM VAKFI (www.ihh.org.tr). IHH has been active in eye care in Africa over the years during which tens of thousands of cataract operations have been sponsored around the continent.
