Mobility training
- The mobility training is started during a course held in the training centre at the Eye Hospital compound.
Farming practices
- Rice planting The clients are learned to brush the farm and nurse the rice seeds before transplanting.
- Ropes and mats Ropes are made and door mats are woven. One blind man was successful in selling doormats so that he could sustain his family
- Palm oil One blind is successful in crushing palm kernels and boiling them in order to get palm oil which can be used for cooking.
- Beehives. A new experiment is the cultivation of bees in order to get honey for consumption and sale. A bee hive was constructed and has attracted bees by 2009-2010. There is no shortage on flowers and bees in sunny Sierra Leone. Both the family, the blind and the villagers are engaged in this project.
Social Medical Support
- Blind trainees with tuberculosis and leprosy are referred to special programs.
- Close cooperation does exist with programs of other handicaps such as river blindness or onchocerciasis, polio, epilepsy and others.
- Educational support to our blind clients' children
